Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 June 2026
Hi — thanks for shopping with Scorch Studio.
This is our Privacy Policy. It tells you what information we collect when you visit our site, place an order, send us artwork, or just say hello — and what we do with it.
Scorch Studio is run by META PR PTY LTD, an Australian small business based in Sydney. We've kept this policy plain-English so you can actually read it without needing a coffee and a magnifying glass.
1. Who we are
- Business name: Scorch Studio
- Legal entity: META PR PTY LTD
- ABN: 18 656 560 780
- Mailing address: P.O. Box 569, Chatswood NSW 2067, Australia
- Email: hello@scorchstudio.com.au
- Website: scorchstudio.com.au
- Based in: Sydney, NSW
2. How we think about your privacy
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and the Spam Act 2003 where they apply to us.
We're a small business, so a few parts of the Privacy Act don't strictly apply — but we treat customer information the way we'd want our own treated. Clear, careful, used only for what we said we'd use it for.
3. What we collect
When you use our site, place an order, or get in touch, we might collect:
- your name
- email and phone number
- billing and shipping addresses
- the details of what you ordered
- payment confirmation details (not the card number itself)
- artwork, logos, photos, text, or files you upload for engraving
- names, dates, messages, maps, QR or NFC links you ask us to engrave
- messages you send us
- support history (so we remember the conversation)
- website usage data — what you clicked, browser type, general location
We only collect what we genuinely need to run the shop, make your order, get it to you, and keep our books in order.
4. The personal stuff on your engraving
A lot of Scorch Studio products are engraved with content that's personal — first homes, wedding locations, kids' names, pet memorials, song lyrics, family photos.
Treat what you send us the way you'd treat anything else personal: only share what you're happy for us to handle. We use it to design, prep, engrave, and finish your order. That's it.
5. How we collect it
We collect information when you:
- visit our website
- create an account
- place an order
- pay
- upload a file or send us artwork
- ask for a quote
- approve a proof
- subscribe to our mailing list
- email us, message us on social, or leave a review
We also receive information from the services we use to run the shop — Shopify, payment providers, couriers, email and analytics tools.
6. What we use it for
We use your information to:
- process and make your order
- send proofs and design previews
- contact you about the order
- arrange shipping or pickup
- handle support and questions
- process payments and refunds
- keep accounting and tax records
- send marketing emails, if you've subscribed
- prevent fraud
- improve our products and site
We don't sell your information. We don't share it with anyone we don't need to.
7. Payments
You pay through Shopify Checkout, which routes payments via Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, or other methods we've enabled.
We don't store your full card number on our systems. The payment providers handle that, under their own security and privacy rules.
8. Shopify and the other tools we use
Our store runs on Shopify, so Shopify processes a lot of the information involved in checkout and order management.
We also use third-party tools for:
- payments
- shipping and delivery
- email and marketing
- analytics
- customer support
- website hosting
- file storage
- fraud prevention
- reviews
- social media advertising
Those providers process information under their own policies. We pick reputable services where we can.
9. Sharing with couriers
To get your order to you, we share what's needed with Australia Post, couriers, or whoever's delivering:
- name
- delivery address
- phone number
- tracking and delivery instructions
Nothing more than what's needed for the parcel to arrive.
10. Email marketing
If you join our mailing list, we'll send you updates on new pieces, market dates, gift ideas, occasional offers — the good stuff.
You can unsubscribe any time via the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or just email hello@scorchstudio.com.au and we'll take you off the list.
Even if you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we'll still send you the important order stuff: confirmations, proof approvals, shipping notifications, pickup details, support replies.
11. Cookies
Our site uses cookies, like most online stores. Three flavours:
- Strictly necessary — keep the cart working, let you check out, keep the site secure. These can't be turned off.
- Analytics — help us understand what's working and what's not on the site.
- Marketing — help us show relevant ads on places like Meta and Google.
You can change cookie settings in your browser. Some parts of the site won't work as well if you turn them off.
12. Ads and social media
We sometimes use Meta, Google, Pinterest, TikTok or similar platforms to advertise.
These tools collect or process information under their own policies and your platform settings. Nothing we share with them is your card or login info.
13. Reviews, photos, portfolio shots
If you leave a review, tag us on social, or share photos of your finished piece, we might use that content for support, website display, social media, marketing, or our portfolio.
We also photograph completed orders before they ship — partly for our records, partly for our portfolio.
If your order is private (a memorial, a private message, confidential business work), just tell us in writing before it ships and we won't share it publicly. No questions asked. We never knowingly publish private addresses, personal contact info, or anything you've flagged as confidential.
14. How we store and protect things
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.
It lives in the systems we run the business on — Shopify, Zoho, our email, cloud storage, accounting tools, payment platforms, shipping platforms.
No online system is perfect. We pick well-known, reputable services and use sensible security practices.
15. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we need it to:
- finish your order
- handle support
- deal with returns or issues
- keep tax and business records (the ATO requires us to)
- meet other legal obligations
- improve how we look after future customers
When we don't need it anymore, we delete it, de-identify it, or archive it securely.
16. Want to see what we have on you?
You can ask us what we've got, update it, or fix it. Just email hello@scorchstudio.com.au.
We might need to confirm it's actually you before we make changes, but it's straightforward.
17. Some of our tools are overseas
Some of the services we use (Shopify, payment processors, email tools, cloud storage, analytics) store or process information outside Australia.
When that happens, your information is handled by those providers under their own privacy policies and security standards.
18. Children
Our products and site aren't intended for use by children without a parent or guardian.
We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think we've collected something we shouldn't have, email us and we'll remove it.
19. Something went wrong?
If you've got a concern about how we've handled your information, talk to us first — we'd rather sort it out directly. Email hello@scorchstudio.com.au and we'll have a look.
If you're not happy with our response, you can take it further with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
20. We might update this
Privacy isn't a set-and-forget. We might update this policy as the business grows or rules change.
The current version always lives at scorchstudio.com.au/privacy with the updated date at the top.
